State Fairs & Festivals
Meijer is committed to supporting high-quality, family-friendly events at an affordable price.
That is why we have a long tradition of supporting fairs, whether sponsoring Meijer Day at the Wisconsin State Fair or Meijer Kiddieland at the Ohio State Fair. These traditions are about drawing together community to celebrate local traditions from agriculture to entertainment.
A big part of fairs are the 4-H programs that teach young people about agriculture, the arts and community service. This tradition is close to our hearts. Fred Meijer, who was born and raised on a farm in Greenville, Mich., was a member of his 4-H Club. He raised cows for his 4-H projects, earning the opportunity to show his prize Guernsey at the Montcalm County Fair.
“We bid on and purchase livestock on behalf of the 4-H groups who do a lot of work in raising these animals throughout the year,” said Cathy Cooper, Senior Director of Community Partnerships and Giving for Meijer. “After the animals are processed, the meat is donated to a charity or a food bank.”
Meijer also supports local festivals that are meaningful in their communities, from Ribfest in Naperville, Illinois to the Twins Day Festival in Twinsburg, Ohio, the world’s largest annual gathering of twins and multiples.
